Early Times Report
jammu, Apr 26: A Kishtwar lecturer Mehboob Ahmed Qazi on Thursday threatened to commit suicide by setting himself on fire after a senior revenue officer did not allow him to meet Delhi's interlocutor on Kashmir Dineshwar Sharma who was on his maiden visit to Kishtwar as a part of his mandate to hold talks with all stakeholders.
Qazi was promoted as a lecturer in Mathematics after 31 years of his services and has not been posted to his home district for last nearly eight months even as there are vacant posts in the District.
Qazi accused the revenue officer of working at behest of local BJP MLA who according to him has left no stone unturned to harass him.
After coming to know about the matter, the interlocutor walked up to the doors of the meeting hall and met the agitating lecturer who put forth his grievances.
Speaking to Early Times, Qazi said the BJP MLA from Kishtwar is harassing him without any reason and that he is blocking his posting to Kishtwar. He accused the BJP MLA of victimizing him on communal lines.
"I am attach in Director Office for nearly eight months and without any salary. My children are studying in colleges, I am not able to meet their expenses," said 52-year-old Qazi. He said that militants killed his elder brother and he is himself suffering from asthma.
"Whenever my case was presented before Education Minister, I was told that MLA Kishtwar Sunil Sharma is agitated at my posting at Kishtwar," said Qazi.
He said the interlocutor has assured him that he will take up the matter with the government for his proper posting. He said that the interlocutor also told him that he can meet him anytime either in J&K or in Delhi. He said that he is hopeful that he will get justice after meeting with interlocutor and called for an end to political victimization of employees.
