| Ari village facing acute scarcity of water, stage protest | | | Early Times Report
Mendhar, Apr 26: The people from Lower Ari and adjoining Panchayats today blocked Mendhar-Surankote road and staged protest demonstration against the PHE authorities.
The villagers from the area assembled at Lower Ari at around 10 Am today and started protest demonstration. They alleged that for the last over one month, the water supply to the area has been suspended during these hot summer days and villagers are facing lot of hardships.
The villagers alleged that many PHE pipes have broken while water supply from the sources has been disrupted due to the reason best known to the concerned field staff. The matter was also brought to the notice of concerned AEE at PHE Sub Division Mendhar but no improvement in the water supply has been witnessed.
Later, SDM Mendhar, Dr Tanveer Ahmed Khan and Naib Tehasildar Mendhar Tarif Hussain Shah intervened and he assured the agitating villagers to take up the matter with the concerned PHE officers. The people then lifted dharna at around 12 pm. |
