Revoke SRO-202, Ashok Kumar urges LG
4/24/2020 9:31:19 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, April 24: Ashok Kumar Former MLA and a Senior Congress leader silently protested against the Government of Jammu and Kashmir and urged to the Lt. Governor of Jammu and Kashmir that SRO-202 should be revoke immediately and regularize daily rated employees under SRO-520 as both are hampering youth and employees of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement here, he said Sro-202 was passed by BJP-PDP coalition Government is totally discriminatory and completely against the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. Also SRO-520 framed during same BJP-PDP coalition government to regularize thousands of casual and need based workers is still pending even after the converting the state into union territory.
In a statement here, Ashok said that a person appointed under Sro-202 shall be on probationary period for five years and after completion of five years in the service shall declared permanent, even as declared by law commission of India that the probation period should not be more than two years. However, in Jammu and Kashmir it is a undoubtedly injustice for the qualified youth.
Ashok claimed that thousands of daily rated and casual workers entitled under SRO-520 in all the departments of Jammu and Kashmir who had completed over 10 years are in absolute shock and their future is bleak. “What can be worst kind of violation of human rights that the government is paying merely Rs 225 wages to a worker per day while per day rate of an unskilled labourer in private sector is Rs 600”, he told. Ashok also added that a person appointed under SRO-202 should be entitled to benefits like annual increment, dearness allowance, house rent allowances and city compensatory allowances after completion of their five years service on the consolidated salaries of merely Rs 7000 to 8000 only.
It is again a great injustice to the young qualified who have completed the entire recruitment processes after passing written test and interviews through recruitment agency. He said such a ruthless government policy against the youth of Jammu and Kashmir is completely inadequate and must be revoked. Kumar said after the abrogation of 370 article in Jammu and Kashmir, SRO-202 now seems meaningless.
SRO-202 has become illegal as per the doctrine of constitution of India. Moreover, Supreme Court judgement of equal pay for equal work has become incoherent in this context as employees appointed under this are shattered and helpless now.
