Early Times Report

BANINHAL, Apr 24: Around 100 families living in Wagan village of Banihal Sub Division are suffering as a bridge connecting their hamlet with other parts of the world collapsed after the area witnessed heavy rainfall triggering the collapse of this vital bridge.
As per the details available with Early Times, the people lost the connection with rest of the population after the bridge was collapsed and washed away.
The locals informed the Early Times that the condition of the bridge was very bad and the bridge was completely worn out, but still the people here were using the same bridge due to compulsion till it collapsed since then the people living in this area are in trouble.
“We are suffering because the connection to the area has now been completely cut off. Now the people here are looking for the help from Government. We have put two wooden poles across the span and built a temporary bridge which is not free from danger,” a local told the Early Times.
He said that there is no sign of the road around the bridge adding that until and unless the new bridge is built, the people here will have to go through the trauma every day.
The people further informed that the BDO Banihal Bashir ul Hassan few days ago visited the spot and assured the people that RDD&PR Department will build a new bridge shortly.
People said that if the bridge is not built soon, they will definitely see a major mishap here in the near future that can claim the lives of innocent people.
