The news report had revealed that (accused) Sarpanch Dalveer Singh and his brother Shankar Singh tried to implicate a family in Gharota murder case of February 25.
SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil while addressing media persons here today said, “This is a rarest of rare case where a criminal conspiracy was hatched to falsely implicate persons to settle political scores with Naib Sarpanch and his family; land disputes with Neelam Singh and to put pressure on a complainant of sexual harassment case (Balveer Singh and his sister).”
Patil said that on 25 February 2020, a case was registered at Police Station Gharota under section 302/307/429/458 IPC and 3/27 Arms Act. “It was reported that Sodagar Singh (Naib Sarpanch Barn), his other brothers including Chanchal Singh @ Baba Chanchal alongwith Ràjan Singh, Neelam Singh and few others barged into the house of Sarpanch Dalveer Singh of Barn at mid night and started indiscriminate firing resulting on-spot death of Kashmir Singh (cousin of Sarpanch) and injuring Sarpanch and his sister Geeta Devi”, he said.

“During the course of investigation, all evidences were put to scientific analysis, witnesses were reexamined. “During the questioning Shankar Singh (brother of Sarpanch) confessed a deep conspiracy hatched by Sarpanch, his brother Shankar and other family members and further confessed of killing his own cousin Kashmir Singh and injuring Sarpanch and sister Geeta with non fatal bullet shot injuries”, the SSP said.
“On the disclosure of Shankar Singh, weapon of offence alongwith cartridges was recovered. All three Co-conspirators i.e. Sarpanch Dalveer, brother Shankar Singh and Sister Geeta were arrested for hatching criminal conspiracy and murder of Kashmir Singh”, he said.
