Man booked for organizing son’s wedding without seeking permission

Kishtwar, Apr 23: Police on Thursday registered a FIR against a man in this hilly district for organizing marriage of his son without seeking permission
According to the details available with Early Times police filed a FIR number 76/188 against father of the groom for violating lockdown norms. “Many people had assembled to attend the marriage party thus violating the order passed by DC Kishtwar to contain spread of COVID 19 disease under Disaster Management Act,” said an official.
After the incident came to fore Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Rajinder Singh Tara, placed village head under suspension and ordered an inquiry into the matter. Tehsildar Kishtwar has been asked to inquire into the matter and submit his report within two weeks.
Speaking to this newspaper a senior police officer said that 20 FIRS were registered at Police Station Kishtwar from 26-3-2020 to 22-4-2020 and 20 persons named in these FIRs were arrested.
The FIRs were registered against the shopkeepers, who opened their establishments in violation of lockdown norms.
Senior police officials said that in order to ensure high vigil Kishtwar police are using drone cameras.
“Even though Kishtwar has not witnessed any case and district administration has relaxed some restrictions we are using scores of high-tech drones to keep a vigil and electronic surveillance in most of the areas in the district” the officer added.
Meanwhile, Kishtwar administration today booked six persons, including a lady for violating COVID-19 lockdown orders as they had travelled to Chatroo, Kishtwar from different parts of Kashmir via snow bound Sinthan pass without proper screening and medical checkup.
A case under FIR No 07/2020 dated 22-04-2020 has been registered against them under sections 188/269/270 of IPC at Police station Chatroo.
