DDC Kathua asks to download Aarogya Setu app to track infection

KATHUA, Apr 24: In order to keep everyone safe during the ongoing pandemic outbreak, District Development Commissioner, O P Bhagat asked all to download the recently launched Aarogya Setu application that tracks Covid-19 cases around and helps in fighting the virus on an individual level.
He said the Aarogya Setu app will help track the corona virus infection by using the smart phone’s GPS system and Bluetooth besides provide information that will help in determining if you have been near a Covid-19 infected person or not.
He further said that the District Administration has been asking all the stakeholders, departments to encourage downloading of the app.
Besides this, the District Administration has been providing help of every kind to the needy, destitute and stranded laborers during this lockdown period. He informed that 4 active relief camps and shelters are managed by the administration where 693 persons are accommodated.
However, 418514 food packets have been served till date and 12 NGOs are presently serving meal to 22000 persons, stranded laborers at 63 different locations across the district. Besides, at 18 different Administrative Quarantine Centres, there are still few inmates who have been provided food and shelter. DDC added that dry ration consisting of Rice, Pulses, Salt, Sugar, Potato, Cooking Oil and Flour has also been distributed among the needy families of the district.
Counselling of interstate migrant laborers and awareness regarding COVID-19 has also been generated at various slums by the Health and Employment Department. The slum dwellers were further advised to maintain safe distancing and keep their surroundings clean and hygienic.
The DDC also appreciated the role of several civil society members who have donated generously in this testing time. He said that in Kathua donation of more than Rs. 5 Lakhs have been deposited in the account of J&K Relief Fund, PM`s CARES Fund, PM`s National Relief Fund and in the account of Chairman, IRCS Kathua.
DDC informed that intensive sanitation cum fumigation drives are being carried out throughout the District by RDD and Municipalities to contain the spread of Coronavirus infection.
He also informed that masks and hand sanitizers were also distributed among the frontline workers. The officials working at Lakhanpur and Nodal Officers of Quarantine Centers were also provided with masks and sanitizers to protect themselves and the inmates against this contagion.
