Home Minister takes stock of the JK security situation

Srinagar, May 10: The Union Home Minister took stock of the overall security situation of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources said that the top officials of security forces including those of security establishments of Jammu and Kashmir Union territory met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and briefed him about the overall security situation of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources said that Home Minister was given a detailed briefing on the prevailing security situation of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly about the situation along International Border and the Line of Control.
It is to mention here that National Security Adviser Ajit Doval on Saturday carried out a complete operational review of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and told top army commanders and paramilitary forces to tighten the counter-infiltration grid along the Line of Control with Pakistan, and the counter-insurgency grid in the Kashmir valley.
The high-level meeting was convened by the National security advisor in the backdrop of increased “ceasefire violations by Pakistan along Line of Control (LOC) and to discuss the overall security situation of the Union territory.
Sources said that the meeting was attended by Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane, Intelligence Bureau director Arvinda Kumar, Research and Analysis Wing chief Samant Kumar Goel, Border Security Force director general SS Deswal, Central Reserve Police Force chief AK Maheshwari.
Northern Army Commander Lt Gen YK Joshi, and general officer commanding of the army’s Srinagar-headquartered 15 corps Lt Gen BS Raju and the Nagrota-based 16 corps commander Lt Gen Harsha Gupta also attend the meet.
Sources also said that “intelligence agencies have informed the MHA that “militants were brought to launching pads by Pakistan to push them into Jammu and Kashmir”.
