JAMMU, May 10: Contrary to the case of some corrupt politicians, there are many honest politicians, who have dedicated their life for the public welfare but have not involved in gathering huge wealth from illegal means.
These days such honest politicians have been extending their help to the people of the area by different means but not by spending huge money on distributing some eatables among some selected voters of their constituencies.
One such name is Ashwani Sharma former legislator from Bishnah constituency, who despite remaining a legislator for more than a decade stayed an honest politician, who worked dedicatedly for his constituency but didn’t made huge fortunes such as some publicity hungry politicians of Jammu. Ashwani Sharma has been extending all his help to the needy people of different areas, during the COVID-19 lockdown without much publicity.
“The honesty of a politician speaks itself and an honest politician cannot collect such huge money in his tenure as the salary runs in several thousands.
After routine expenditures, a legislator can save only few thousands such as a gazetted officer and from that savings, a politician can do some limited philanthropy works”, a local leader of Bishnah said, adding that honest people as well as politicians such as Ashwani
Sharma, have been extending help to needy people by other means rather than by individually distributing items among the poor to secure their votes.
Quite away from media glare and away from securing cheap publicity, many other honest politicians have been helping people during the lockdown as they are more interested in help rather than expecting dividends from their help such as Jammu based politicians, a politician said. |
