Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 27: The Government at present is making hectic efforts to expedite the four-laning of the crucial highways in Jammu and Kashmir with stress being laid to spend the central grants on priority and not to allow the funds to get lapsed. However, the documents in possession of the Early Times reveal that crores of rupees of central funds meant for the construction of highways were allowed to get lapsed without any remorse by those at the helm in the past. The documents reveal one particular project for which the central government had sanctioned a whooping 5100 crore rupees and the government for years didn’t spend more than mere three lakh out of the total grant. Out of the whooping Rs 5100 crores sanctioned for Jammu-Poonch NH four-laning by the government of India, the state government had utilised mere three lack rupees on ground.
