EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 26: Notwithstanding government's claims of opening nine medical colleges in J&K, the UT still faces lack of medicare facilities. According to reports, there has been no decrease in the rush of patients to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu despite starting of Medical Colleges of Kathua and Rajouri. Even the Medical College Doda has also started working partially but patients are still referred to Jammu. The patients especially the accident victims are not treated in these hospitals but they have become referring units to GMC&H Jammu. Even yesterday six persons including five travelling in a car met with an accident in front of GMC Kathua. Among them seriously injured pedestrian was shifted to GMC&H Jammu as proper facilities of treatment were not available at GMC Kathua. The same is case with other GMCs in UT, sources said.
