MHRD team visits Kashmir to discuss special package; skips Jammu!

Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 22: With no let up in complaints of discrimination with Jammu, in the latest, a team of Union Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) visited Kashmir to finalize special package for Jammu and Kashmir's Higher Education whereas no deliberations allegedly took place in winter capital region. Officials said the team led by Joint Secretary MHRD, held threadbare discussions with the academics in Kashmir including Vice Chancellors of various universities to decide about the package for the higher education sector in J&K. Officials however said the MHRD team has "given a miss" to Jammu. "Taking feedback and holding discussions with academics in both the region would ideally lead to all round development but here meetings are being held mainly in Kashmir and this is something that sets a bad precedence," said an official on the condition of anonymity. He said given the area of Jammu and the Higher Education facilities spanning over various regions including Doda and Rajouri, the MHRD should have focused more on Jammu to decide over the package...
