Review of recruitment policy adds to PDP's woes

Early Times Report
Jammu, May 19: The review of new recruitment policy has added to the woes of PDP causing tension between very two senior leaders, both close to the chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
The recruitment policy was conceived and devised by the finance minister in an attempt to streamline the finances of the state. The policy though reportedly discussed in meeting of coalition partners attended by all important ministers, had reservations among a section of the ministers.
Some ministers had even reportedly told the CM about their reservations, but the finance minister decided to go ahead with it.
"Since the CM was also convinced about it, the others also decided to support it but it only build up the tension," said a senior PDP minister.
It was because of this reason another senior PDP minister, also considered very close to the CM, had made statements which were contradictory to the statements of the finance minister.
Though the PDP minister was much grounded and knew it was coming but even then kept silent as the finance minister didn't want anyone to intrude into his space.
"The CM had given free hand to the finance minister. But the policy was not only flawed but had too much contradictions and when the opposition went all hog against it, the CM decided to have review it," said the PDP minister, quoted above.
The two senior PDP minister haven't been seeing each other and also not attending the cabinet meetings in each other's presence.
"One is considered a political ideologue of the party and the other one is assuming to be economic ideologue, but not much on the ground. The former knows the ground situation while the latter is convincing the CM that economic turnaround in the State is possible. It is major thinking clash between the two senior minister and the economic policy has further widened the gap," said the minister, quoted.
The gap has widened to an extent that the minister, who is critical of the finance minister, has not been included in the committee formed to review the recruitment policy, which again will send the wrong signal.
