Proposed PSC members: NC worker out, BJP worker in | | | Sumit Sharma
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 19: The adage 'Might is Righty' seems aptly fit in the pick and choose policy in the members of the Public Service Commission (PSC) as after showing the door to the G.L Bhagat , an earlier proposed member in PSC, on the ground of having label of National Conference (NC), the successive government recommended the name of the BJP worker for the PSC panel, raising eyebrows of many. Dr B.D Vyas, whose name was recommended for the PSC panel, is renowned worker of the BJP and was very much in the panel of BJP candidate for MLA for Samba constituency but was denied ticket at eleventh hour. Further, ignoring Governor N.N Vohra's recommendation, the govt has recommended junior most person ( Dr B D Viyas) who had service as lecturer in the month of December 2010 and is on junior most post in teaching faculty. Vyas is presently posted in the GMC hospital in Ortho department. Not only his, there is another person namely Posh Charak , who being close to the professor turns politician, has been recommended for appointment as PSC member. If the political masters are to be believed, Posh Charak is presently professor in the English department in Jammu University and is close to the heavy weight in the BJP camp. Pertinently, N.N Vohra Governor J&K had returned NC-Congress coalition government's earlier recommendation for appointments of members Public Service Commission with the observations that persons recommended for appointment as members did not fulfil laid down provisions , eligibility criteria .He asked the Chief Secretary to frame the rules to be member of the PSC so that this constitutional body functions properly and for that the members have to be honest ,having un- blemished service record, supposed to be senior officers having good reputation. The recommendation on the part of the Governor put forwarded after dropping earlier recommended members included Rishi Dogra, former Registrar of Baba Gulam Shah Badshah University, Mushtaq Wani, former College Principal, Indu Kilam, a scholar and academician, retired IAS official GR Bhagat and senior KAS official Munshi Muzaffar Hussain. |
