BARAMULLA, May 19: Despite registering a First Information Report (FIR) in the case of 'ransacking' of a degree college in Uri area of this north Kashmir district, police is yet to arrest the son of the local legislator and other accused in the case. Principal Government Degree College Uri, G.M Dar, told Early Times that Dr Sajad Ahmad, son of MLA Mohammad Shafi Uri, has been fomenting trouble in and outside the college and "has almost liquidated the sanctity" of this co-educational institution attended by hundreds of girls on daily basis. Dar said that one of the teachers Inam Mir, who is working in some school of Uri, "has been threatening me of dire consequences," and that in the aftermath of the "subversive act" he must be suspended till completion of the probe. Station House Officer (SHO) Uri, Lateef Durani, said, "We raided the houses of the accused but they were not found there. We are trying our level best to affect the arrest of all the accused who had entered into the college premises." The SHO added: "We will arrest all of them. Doesn't matter if the accused happen to be relatives of influential persons. We hae recorded the statements of eyewitnesses, college staff and other people. So nobody is above the law and law will take its own course, we are not going to spare anybody, whosoever it is." Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Peerzada Mushtaq Ahmad said, "I don't have any particular information about this, but I heard it somewhere. If there is a land of villagers under the college premises they will be compensated for that." "The case is with the police and they are investigating it. If anybody goes against the law, they will be punished," the Deputy Commissioner said.
