Rs. 8.5 Cr Bhour camp Tulip garden reduced into grazing ground

Jammu, May 19: Constructed at the cost of whopping ` 8.5 cr, the tulip garden in Bhour camp has been reduced into a mere grazing ground and no one has been held accountable for such colossal plunder of Public exchequer.
Manpreet Singh a resident of Bhour Camp informed Early Times that seven-year back state government had announced twin flower gardens in Jammu and Srinagar to attract tourist but while Garden at Srinagar shot to international fame, one in Jammu has become a barren land. Castigating previous government Singh said that the Tulip garden Bhour camp which was inaugurated by then Chief Minister Gulam Nabi azad, on March 31,2008 with the hope that it would become a tourist destination but Omar government's apathy towards Bhour Camp garden reduced it into a barren piece of land.
"The then, state government acquired more than 560 kanals but after lapse of around seven years the garden is still without a compound wall. As a result previous few varieties of flowers in the garden are being destroyed", Singh said.
"At that time, people of Gandhi Nagar and adjoining areas also visited here but when government lost interest in developing existing infrastructure here, it died an unceremonious death", he said. When contacted director floriculture Jammu said that the department had forwarded a financial proposal to state government for construction of a compound wall all along the garden and other developmental works of garden, but the department was still waiting for approval.
