All vehicles to ply both ways on Jammu-Srinagar NH from today

JAMMU, Apr 9 : According to Inspector General of Police Traffic, J&K Jammu, all types of vehicles shall be allowed to ply, both ways, on NH (Viz from Jammu to Srinagar and vice versa), every day, w.e.f 10.04.2014, round the clock in view of improved weather conditions and condition of road.
However, keeping in view the ongoing work on NH, damage to the road narrow width of road formation at some stretches (due to prolonged winters) and to avoid any inconvenience to the passengers, the people have been suggested to follow some advisories. The passengers/commuters have been advised to cross TCP Nagrota upto 0900 hours (when plying from Jammu side towards Valley) and Qazigund upto 1000 (when plying from Srinagar towards Jammu) on daily basis in order to avoid jamming and correlated inconvenience.
Besides, all types of PSVs have been advised to avoid cross the stretch between Ramban and Ramsoo after the sunset to avoid accidents as the road is still difficult, narrow and prone to shooting stones etc. In case of bad weather and shooting stones, the PSVs have been advised to avoid to venture and cross the landslide/shooting stone prone areas to avoid any eventuality. They shall get updates regarding road condition etc. from the concerned traffic police officials.
All the concerned have been asked to observe utmost driving discipline and avoid overloading, over speeding/rash driving, overtaking, stopping en-route etc while plying on National Highway to ensure their own as well as safety of others.
However, the general public has been informed to contact the Traffic Control Rooms at TCU Ramban 9419993745, TCU Jammu 0191-2459048, 9419147732 and TCU Srinagar 0194-2450022, 0194-2485396 on daily basis before embarking on NHW for the purpose.
