Kashmir Economic Alliance hits out at political parties for surrendering interests of Kashmir
Threatens to carry out agitation

Jehangir Rashid

SRINAGAR, Apr 9: Threatening to launch an agitation against alleged discrimination, Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) an amalgam of various trade bodies in Kashmir valley has taken strong exception to the less allocation of funds to the Kashmir valley under the Central Roads Funds Program. The Alliance has said that Kashmir valley been allotted meager 15 crores out of the total allocation of 109 crores for the twin capital cities of the state.
The Alliance said that the amount allocated is too small given the dilapidated condition of roads across Kashmir valley more so after recent snowfall and rains. "The KEA believes that discrimination has been meted out to Kashmir valley on account of allocation of funds under the Central Road Funds programme.
Kashmir deserves more considerations both from state and central governments as it has been suffering badly due to the prevailing political turmoil in the state. It is, indeed, shocking that Kashmir has always been discriminated on all fronts including the development," said Siraj Ahmad, chief spokesman, KEA. Siraj accused that this is not for the first time and surely not the last that the state government has been forced to treat Kashmir as a secondary and insignificant part of the state. He said that pan allocations or distribution of funds whatever nature always have been going on in an almost similar ratio. "Congress and non-congress governments; all have discriminated against Kashmir everywhere and in every manner. For instance if by chance, anywhere, Kashmir takes precedence in any sector like tourism, Horticulture, handicrafts and minerals Jammu and Ladakh immediately cry hoax and government comes under pressure, caves-in, and whether required or not, immediate attention is paid and redressal happens.
Never is so in case of Kashmir," said Siraj. The KEA chief spokesman averred that political parties like National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party have turned puppets in the hands of Congress party just for the lust of power in the state. He said that leaders of both NC and PDP have failed to protect the interests of Kashmir and the people of Kashmir who have voted them to the power.
"Leaders of NC and PDP prefer to form coalition government with Congress and try to be more loyal to the king than kings own kin.
The KEA believes that time has come for both NC and PDP to think of Kashmir and the people of Kashmir. If they don't, they will be wiped out. Both PDP and NC should now stand for Kashmir and the rights of the Kashmir otherwise it can prove very late," said Siraj.
Siraj said that KEA would pursue its agenda and strive for the interests of Kashmir and its people and will not tolerate any discrimination. He said for this purpose KEA will always mobilize public opinion so that masses are made aware about the unfortunate developments taking place as on date.
