Nation progressed under Congress regime: Tara Chand | | | Early Times Report
Reasi, Apr 9 : Senior Congress leader and Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand today urged people to not to fall a prey to divisive forces which he added were trying to disintegrating the nation and divide people on communal lines. These divisive forces have also spelled out their communal agenda in their manifesto and are out there to divide people in the name of religion and region. Addressing series of public meetings at Jadh, Kalsar, Gun, Malaid, Khairal and Reasi, Tara Chand said that during post independence era, only Congress has been able to tap natural resources, build mega dams, irrigation canals, super highways, set up industrial units, bring in revolution in agriculture sector and generate enough employment for our youth. On the other hand BJP ever since its existence had been only working towards dividing people to snatch power. Congress, he added has a history of sacrifices both pre and post independence era and despite that had been working tirelessly to ensure socio-economic develop of the nation. It's Congress that had ensured equitable development of people irrespective of their cast, creed, region or religion. The space progra-mmes, headway in science and technology, largest network of railways, better health care systems, massive indus-trialisation and schemes for upliftment of poor and downtrodden have been the contributions of Congress party. Tara Chand also appreciated Congress led coalition government for funding the state liberally and added that about 659 new administrative units made by the coalition government were in continuation to the move initiated by Ghulam Nabi Azad who was first to make eight new administrative units during his tenure as chief minister of the state and Reasi was also one of the beneficiaries. He said that nation achieved global recognition with regards to development under the regime of Congress led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre. He in the same breath said that Jammu and Kashmir State also witnessed tremendous development during this era when peace was also restored here. He urged people to vote for Congress which will be a vote for development, peace and stability. Prominent among others who also addressed meetings include former minister and MLC Jugal Kishore Sharma, former minister Jagjeevan Lal; Thakur Balwan Singh and Vinod Sharma (general secretaries PCC). |
