IMPCC hails role of media in voters' mobilization campaign

Jammu, Apr 22: The Inter-media Publicity Coordination Committee (IMPCC) meeting today reviewed functioning of media units of Information & Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry and other constituents of the committee in Jammu and Kashmir.
The unprecedented voters' turnout in the recently held parliament elections in Jammu Division of J&K state and the role of media was the focal point of deliberations at the meeting that was presided over by the IMPCC Chairman Obaidur Rahman.
The Chairman underlined the vital role of various media units in mobilizing the people of the state with a sense of equality in order to ensure their maximum involvement in the electoral process. This has to be practiced with a missionary zeal of achieving higher voter turnout, he added. The Chairman appreciated the efforts made by the State Information Department by establishing a media centre at Jammu for the convenience of the media fraternity in connection with the coverage of ongoing Parliamentary Elections.
Assistant Station Director, Doordarshan Kendra Jammu Anjali Sharma, apprised the chair about the activities of DDK Jammu with a special emphasis on the ongoing elections.
Assistant Director News, Doordarshan Kendra Jammu and Radio Kashmir Jammu, Tariq A. Rather informed the meeting about the role of the News Unit in updating the election related information to the listeners. He pointed out that the focus of the AIR News from Jammu has been the inclusion of audio bytes to make the bulletins more lively.
Earlier the IMPCC Chairman welcomed V.K. Sambyal for taking over the reins of Radio Kashmir Jammu as Station Director.
