Kishtwar, Apr 22: Three hour marathon meeting of agitating employees with Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar failed to break the ice after core committee of newly formed Kishtwar employees front staged a walkout from the meeting and accused Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar of rendering undue support to Superintendent of Police who according to agitating employees misbehaved with ARO Kishtwar Mohammad Hanief Malik.
After day long protest on 3rd consecutive day due to which the work in all the government offices particularly in DC Office Kishtwar remained paralysed, all agitating employees after closing their offices assembled at Shaheedi Mazar Kishtwar where they raised slogans against Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Javed Ahmed Khan and SP Kishtwar Sanjay Kotwal and condemned the ill treatment meted out to the employees engaged in poll duties.
As the protest was going on, the Divisional administration pressed IAF chopper into service to airlift the stranded polling staff from Inshan (Warwan) and Navapachi (Warwan) and airlifted 41 polling staff including 30 civil employees and 11 security personnel. The IAF chopper could only manage two sorties, while several other employees were still stranded at Marwah.
The employees while sharing their miseries slammed the administration and police. They said that Inshan SHO and Dachhan SHO treated them as animals and not only used force against them but also harassed them. They said that after travelling for two days in 8-10 feet snow in deteriorating health, they managed to reach Inshan. They said that several employees are still trapped in the area and added that eight of their colleagues who left the station on foot have yet to reach Kishtwar and their whereabouts are still not known. Later all the employees went to hospital for medical checkup and many of them were advised complete rest.
Meanwhile Kishtwar Employees Front an amalgam of agitating employees through core committee submitted 6 point agenda before the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar and made it clear to the administration that the strike will continue till the demands were met. The demands include complete airlifting of polling staff from Marwah, Dachhan and other areas, revocation of FIR against all employees, FIR of ARO Kishtwar against SP Kishtwar be lodged and the press release given by DC Kishtwar in this regard to be withdrawn, FIR against SHO Dachhan, Insha Warwan be lodged, TA & DA to employees deputed on election duties to be released immediately and revengeful attitude of police towards employees be guarded against.
