Fumed Farooq likely to get down on Omar's coterie | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 8: The senior leadership of the National Conference, which is close to Dr Farooq Abdullah, has taken strong exception to planted stories aimed to maligning them. The sources said that they spoken to the Dr Farooq against a section of party leadership, which is trying to project Omar as a victim of inner party dissent. The media reports had indicated that AR Rather and Ali Mohammad Sagar, were conspiring to oust Omar Abdullah when the state was rocked by 2010 summer unrest. The story has indicated that Omar didn't get the required cooperation from the senior party leadership and is projected as one of the main reasons for the debacle of the party in the recent parliamentary elections. The story has come when Dr Farooq Abdullah has appointed Sagar as the general secretary of the party . It's for the first time that NC has given this post to anyone outside the Abdullah family. The move has not only clipped the wings of the Nasir Aslam Wani but is seen as a warning signal by the coterie of the Omar Abdullah that more such moves are in the offing. "It's because of this nervousness the coterie of the Omar had planted such story. It's also an indication of their desperation as the see now an end game for them," said a senior NC leader. The senior leadership of the party has reportedly told Dr Farooq that such moves are not only acceptable but it could do more harm to the part as it's preparing for the assembly elections. The sources said Dr Farooq has told them to keep calm for some time and assured of a strict action in this regard. "Dr Farooq is furious with such tactics of Omar's coterie and has decided to take stern action probably divesting them of all party posts including ministerial. Farooq has told party seniors that an action is in offing and would be taken very soon," said a senior NC minister. |
