Sandeep Bhat Jammu, Oct 8 : Believe it or not, the 7th day of September and October have proved unlucky and un auspicious for the state of jammu and Kashmir. On 7th September, the Srinagar city was submerged when river jehlum breached its banks and went into the interiors of the city mostly in uptown which include posh Raj Bagh, Indra Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, Maisuma and many other areas. The 7th September is not a date to be forgotten and irony is that nobody wants to remember this number . Now on 7th October, again nature wrecked havoc in Jammu region and damaged many trees and electric poles. Yesterday (7th October) , it was initially a wind storm, which latwer brought heavy rains creating panic among the residents and the life came to a stand still. The national highway was blocked at many places due to landslides, Salal power station was damaged which ultimately brought darkness to Jammu region. Talking to Early Times, Rattan Lal, a government employee said that the number 7has created havoc both in jammu and Kashmir. The date 7 will be remembered as unlucky number because on 7 September it brought devastation and destruction in Kashmir and on 7 October, it brought wind storm in Jammu region which was responsible for large scale damages across Jammu region which include Udhampur, Reasi, Katra, Rajouri and other areas. The nature is very angry at the moment and nobody knows what is in store. Let us keep fingers crossed on 7 November, said Mohammad Hussain, a truck driver who is a witness to both the destrructions. "On 7 September, I was lucky enough to escape from that destruction and on 7October, it was again my luck that saved me. I reached Jammu well in time otherwise falling trees and poles would have killed me," he said. |
