Cracks in JKPCC deepen as disgruntled leaders decide to quit | | | Kunal Shrivatsa JAMMU, Oct 8: Keeping the house in order has become a challenge for the State Congress leadership as the cracks are getting deeper with each passing day. If sources within the Congress are to be believed then the disenchantment among quite a few senior leaders against the party leadership has come to such a proportion that some of them are now thinking of leaving the party. "The disillusionment has come to a level where many leaders, who dedicatedly served the party for several years, are feeling isolated in the organization…The sense of being dumped by the party leadership is definitely on the rise due to which some of them have made up their mind to quit the party," said sources. Sources further informed Early Times that one such leader, who is office bearer of the PCC and has long association with the party, is finally calling it quits from the Congress very soon. "Fed up with his constant neglect, a senior Congress leader, who is associated with the Congress for the past several years, is quitting the party within next few days… A formal announcement to leave the party will be made by him in a couple of days," said sources. "The disgruntled leader has held key positions in the party from time to time….His main grudge is that the present leadership doesn't take into confidence those leaders who have vast experience and spent a lifetime in strengthening the organization's base in the state," they added. Sources further said that despite PCC chief Saif-ud-Din Soz and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad publicly deny existence of any factions within the party, however, the factual position is somewhat different as the state party leaders as well as workers have openly exhibit their allegiance to either Azad camp or Soz group. "The disappointed leader, who is tendering resignation from the Congress, also regrets that persons like him are unable to put forth their suggestions at a proper forum since there is virtual split of the party between Azad and Soz camps," said sources. When asked that whether the senior leader, who is contemplating to abandon the Congress, is joining some other party or not. "The senior leader has not taken a final call to embrace any other political party but he is in touch with some of them… Nothing has been finalized as yet but most likely he would join a party which is ideologically suitable to him," sources maintained. |
