NC played safe, sought deferment of elections

Srinagar, Oct 11: As National Conference (NC) lonely sought deferment of upcoming Assembly Elections in Jammu and Kashmir by citing large scale devastation caused by floods as only reason, experts say NC has every reason to seek deferment of elections as most flood hit areas actually cut NC's Vote bank strength than any other political party.
The NC leaders including the Chief Minister will find it extremely difficult to visi8t the flood ravaged areas to seek votes especially when they failed then in times of distress, said a political expert. Chief Minister's constituency, Sonawar is badly hit by floods and Omar is not welcome there.
Amira Kadal also considered as den of NC has also suffered massive damage. The NC leadership, therefore, has no option but to seek deferment of elections.
Like Sonawar and Amira Kadal, third constituency where from NC more often wins is Batamaloo, which is equally hit by floods like rest of the constituencies of Srinagar.
Parts of Khanyar constituency which is considered a den of NC senior leader Ali Muhammad Sagar are also among the flood hit areas and as experts argue that constituency is likely to give tough times to NC leadership during assembly elections, therefore here like many other parts of flood hit Srinagar many anti government protests were reported from here post floods hit Kashmir.
Mubarak Gul's Eidgah is also annoyed. Gul needs strong courage to go among people for votes.
After Srinagar district, Chadoora and Budgam areas historically considered as NC strongholds also add worries for NC leadership. According to reports, the people in these areas are considering other options.
Kulgam and Anantnag in South Kashmir and many areas of North Kashmir have a similar story to tell. The NC leadership played safe and .a three member team of NC led by General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar and comprising of Provincial Presidents Devender Singh Rana and Nasir Aslam Wani in a meeting with Deputy Chief Election Commissioner Vinod Zutshi, pleaded for deferment of Assembly Elections.
