Mangat Ram shares dais with Mehbooba, may join PDP | | | Sanjay Pathak
KATHUA, Oct 11: Congress leader and ex-Dy Chief Minister, Pandit Mangat Ram Sharma today made his intention clear that his is going to leave his party to join hands with old friend Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. In a function which was held at Hiranagar this evening, Mangat Ram Sharma shared dais with Mehbooba Mufti, MP and president of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Mangat Ram Sharma did not speak even a single word in the function but his presence in the meeting which was organised by the local unit of PDP attached importance and sent a clear and loud message to all. This meeting was organised in connection with Mehbooba Mufti's whirlwind tour of the border areas of Jammu region which were badly affected due to Pakistan firing during the last one week. According to PDP sources, even party leadership was not aware that Mangat Ram Sharma would join the function along with Mehbooba Mufti. When PDP president reached at the venue, Mangat Ram Sharma was not present at the venue but within no time he emerged. A senior leader who was sitting next to Mehbooba Mufti vacated seat for veteran Congress leader. These days Mangat Ram Sharma is feeling "humiliated and suffocated" in the party with whom he has been associated with nearly half a century. The incumbent leadership in the Congress has literally ignored him despite the fact he has been made senior vice president of the PCC. For present Congress leadership Mangat Ram Sharma has become a spent force so the veteran leader has decided to carve out a new path in his political life. By sharing dais with Mehbooba Mufti, the Congress leader has given a clear signal that he is going to join PDP because he has good relations with Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. |
