Why NC wants postponement of elections? | | | Sandeep Bhat
Jammu, Oct 11: When all the parties want elections in Jammu and Kashmir on time, National Conference seeks citing devastation caused by recent floods as an excuse. The NC team led by its general secretary and minister for Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Ali Mohammad Sagar met Deputy Election Commissioner Vinod Zutshi and conveyed their party stand on elections. The NC leaders fear that if elections are held on time, people may not vote for the party for a variety of reasons including government's failure in handling the situation created by floods. There is strong anti- incumbancy against the NC. Talking to Early Times, MLA Darhal Choudhary Zulfkar said that our party wants elections on time as we intend to serve people. "Only NC is favouring postponed of elections fearing worst ever defeat and is in no position to face people. This government has lost the confidence of people and is now seeking postponement of elections," he said. A senior BJP leader said that our party is also ready for elections and if election commission decides to hold election on time, we will cooperate. He further said that the present government headed by incumbent chief Minister Omar Abdullah has failed on all fronts. Similar voices have been heard from other political parties. Gaurav, a student said the young chief minister failed the youth. Sunita, a teacher by profession said that the present dispensation has given only lip service to the people. "The people are fed of this government and want to get rid of this regime as soon as possible," she said. |
