Jammu, Oct 11: A deputation of EP Tenants Welfare Society under the leadership of its President Inder Mohinder Tar Singh handed over a memorandum to Mushtaq Ahmed Malik Custodian, Evacuees Property, Jammu. In the meeting which Malik, Tar Singh put forth various grievances and demanded their immediate redressal so that the poor and hapless tenants get relief. He said that as per the records 2200 houses and 18 lakhs and 40 thousand of land is in the possession of the tenants. Besides, there are flats shops, garages and kohlas. Respective governments had constituted committees from time to time to look into the matters relating to E.P. Tenants and Revenue Ministers had assured to settle our issues within stipulated period but unfortunately our grievances remain unresolved. Among us there is a large number of the POK refugees (0f 1947, 1965 and 1971) who were displaced during three wars with Pakistan; they genuinely deserve the "proprietary rights" on these houses and land which they are maintaining for the last over three to four generations. We put forth the following demands which we hope shall be resolved by your good self, said Tar Singh. The leader of the deputation Tar Singh informs througu the press note that our teams have visited the border areas to take the stock of the recent firing and heavy shelling from across the LOC which has forced the EP Tenants to leave their houses and lands and many casualties have taken place, many of them are lying injured in several hospitals. |
