Both countries have failed to respect cease-fire agreement : Mehbooba | | | KATHUA, Oct 11: : Peoples Democratic Party president and MP Mehbooba Mufti has warned both Pakistan and union Government led by Narinder Modi not to prepare the J&K borders for war and advised them to respect the "ceasefire agreement" which was held by then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Pakistan's then president Prevez Musharaf in 2003, in her address when she visited relief camp of border firing affected people in Hiranagar today. She said that ceasefire agreement which lasted successful and no violation across the International Border and LoC in J&K was reported till 2008.In the camp Mehbooba interacted with the Pakistan shelling affected people who took refuge there following the exchange of heavy gunfire between Indian and Pakistani troops. Mehbooba Mufti was accompanied by former deputy chief minister and veteran Congress leader Mangat Ram Sharma on the occasion. In this relief camp a large number of villagers from border areas have taken shelter after being forced migration by Pakistan's heavy shelling. "Forces of both the countries have failed to respect cease-fire agreement and for this defense ministers of India and Pakistan should take responsibility and step down from their positions." On Government of India's instruction to the BSF for giving a befitting reply to the neighbouring country, she said: "Bullet is not solution of bullet; on both sides, only poor masses suffer not the politicians, so both the countries should formulate a common policy, so that border residents may lead a happy and safe life." |
