Jammu, Nov 7: Jammu district made a clean sweep with boys clinched overall trophies in all the age groups of under-14, under-7 and under-19 in the three-day inter-state (inter-district) athletics competition, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at BSF Stadium, here today. The overall second place in under-14 category went to district Kathua. Similarly, in under-17 group, again Kathua bagged the overall second position while in under-19 category, district Poonch remained runners-up. The overall trophies as also other individual medals were presented to the athletes by Director General DYSS, Navin Agarwal, who was chief guest. Inspector General of BSF Jammu Frontier, Rakesh Sharma was guest of honour. Also present were Deputy Director, DYSS, Kanchan Bala, DIG BSF, NS Jamwal and District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sharma. Meanwhile, as per the organizers, the three-day inter-district state athletics meet in girls section shall start from November 10 at the same venue. The Detailed Results: Under-19 yr: 200 mts: Rajinder Kumar, Jammu, 1st; Anil Sharma, Samba, 2nd and Rayees Ahmed, Baramulla, 3rd. 800 mts: Yashpaul Tinkoo, Jammu, 1st; Rahul Singh, Samba, 2nd and Susheel Kumar, Udhampur, 3rd. Under-17 yr: 200 mts: Ramandeep Singh, Kathua, 1st; Kajal Singh, Jammu, 2nd and Faisal Rashid, Gandarwal, 3rd. Under-14 yr: 200 mts: Anubhav Raina, Jammu, 1st; Yaseer Ali, Rajouri, 2nd and Amir Hussain, Kishtwar, 3rd. |
