RMSA teachers seek salary, threaten agitation

BARAMULLA, Nov 7: Teachers/masters working under Rashtriya Madhiyam Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) are without salary for the past four months in Baramulla district. These masters told Early Times that government has not released their salaries from last couple of months. They have threatened agitation incase the salary was not released immediately. A teacher from district Baramulla Mohammad Altaf told Early Times that, "there are almost 276 masters and 48 Headmasters who were recently promoted by the directorate of school education Kashmir are without salaries from June 2014 till date"
Almost master grade employee is getting 40000 as salary and Rs 27160 which is being paid by the center government and state government have to pay rest of the money he said. Another teacher wishing anonymity said that, "this is not first time in the history of education department, teachers are suffering at large as there is no other means of business to them. Even though in past we met deputy chief minister Tara Chand, and higher education minister Mohammad Akbar Lone, who gave us assurances that their genuine demands will be fulfilled at the earliest, but as of now our families are the sufferers of this type of attitude which government has shown us time and again, teachers said. A group of teachers said that master working under RMSA in the education department are without salary for the last four to five months resulting into hardships to their families, which are at the verge of starvation, before we will come on roads for protest, let the government release our salaries at the earliest.
Meanwhile maximum number of masters/ teachers threatened that if their demands were not met, the teaching community would have no option other than to protest against the state government.
