Rana, now Constituency Provincial President | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 7: Days ahead of the votes are cast and later, results declared; party headquarter of National Conference (NC) has seemingly been deserted by one and all. Ask for the reason and you would come to know that the man who led the charge for the last three years, Provincial President Devinder Singh Rana is missing. These days, he has been spending most of the time in his Nagrota Assembly segment, the constituency from where he is the contesting candidate of National Conference (NC). If his close friends are to be believed, he goes to the constituency at 11 in the morning and returns late in the night. They maintain that sometimes the NC provincial president even stretches his constituency vote canvassing till 12 in the night, pleading for votes. Knowing well that hardly a man including those from his own party wants him to win and have already making overt and covert efforts to see him defeated in the triangular contest between NC, BJP and Congress; Rana has abandoned the party headquarter and does not go there at all. With him out, insiders maintain that the sycophants who would gather to shower praises on his leadership skills hardly visit the office. They do claim that they are canvassing for the candidates but are often seen sipping coffee and tea in various corners of Jammu city, doing either nothing or little for the party. Rana, who would often crack choicest jokes at Congress Ministers, calling them constituency Ministers, apprehension of defeat has turned the ex-Advisor of Chief Minister into constituency provincial president. |
