Jammu, Nov 7 : A colloquia on the legal rights of street children and transgenders was organized on the eve of National Legal Services Day held here today in the district court complex, Kishtwar, under the chairmanship of Bala Jyoti, Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of District Legal Services Authority. Deputy Commissioner Javed Ahmed Khan presided over and SSP, Kishtwar, Yougal Manhas,who is also a member of District Legal Services Authority, was present on the occasion. Bar Association president Om Parkash Parihar read out welcome address. Advocate Khursheed Ahmed Dev spoke on the rights of transgenders and advocate Rajesh Sharma spoke on legal rights of undertrials. Tarun Kumar, student of Boys Higher Secondary School spoke on legal rights of transgenders and Mamuna Malik spoke on rights of women and children. Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kishtwar, Balbir Lal presented vote of thanks and Munsiff, Kishtwar, Adnan Sayed conducted the proceedings. Speaking on the occasion, the principal district and sessions judge apprised the audience about legal rights of street and underprivileged children and asked all those present to be sensitive towards these issues. A series of awareness programmes/workshops were also organized at Padder, Nagseni and Mughal Maidan and Ashyana Orphanage, Kishtwar, wherein at different places people on legal rights of women folk, transgenders, senior citizens were apprised for the welfare of general masses and rustic villagers and downtrodden persons of the society. Many prominent persons of locality, revenue officers, Bar Members, CDPO, Superintendent of District Jail, Kishtwar , CMO Kishtwar, additional District Development Commissioner, Kishtwar ,Executive Officer Municipal Committee, Assistant Executive Engineer, PHE , Chief Medical Officer and Public Prosecutor, Kishtwar,Senior Prosecuting Officers were present on the occasion. The programme was a huge success and people of the area lauded the role of District Legal Services Authority Kishtwar for organizing such events for the welfare of general public. |
