Agitated relatives, kin stage protest, demand due compensation | | | Early Times Report
Samba, Nov 7: Following death of JCB driver owing to negligence, locals along with relatives of deceased blocked the Jammu-Pathankot road for more than six hours, forcing police to divert the traffic to other adjoining link roads. Police sources said that last night a one person identified as Darshan Singh (30) son of Likht Singh of Badholi Kootah lost his life after being hit by a tipper at a stone crusher in Tapyal Morh. Sources further said that after the mishap Darshan was shifted to nearby hospital where he was declared as brought dead. Today relatives of the deceased along with locals assembled at national Highway and blocked the Jammu-Pathankot road to register their protest. Police team headed by DySP Vijaypal Singh along with Tehsildar Kulbushan Khajuria, ACR Mohd Yousaf Mallik rushed to the spot meanwhile Ex-Minister Girdhari Lal Chalotra also reached the spot and they made joint efforts to pacify the protestors but all in vain. Meanwhile police diverted the traffic to adjoining link roads to prevent inconvenience to commuters. Later, the owner of the crusher assured Rs 5000 as pension to the victim family in presence of above said officers and Rs 2 lakh was given on spot ex-gratia while Rs one lakh would be given on tomorrow following which the protesters lifted their protest |
