Course in computer concepts commences | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Nov 7: Government Degree College (GDC) Udhampur inaugurated its annual feature, 80-hour Certificate Course in Computer Concepts, here on Friday. According to press release, principal of the college Prof. S S Bhalwal was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion he congratulated the Internal Quality Assurance Cell for continuing the healthy practice of computer literacy for the deserving students. "What relevant ten years was before may not be applicable today. So a persistent effort is required to update our existing skills. Skills empower us and minimize our dependence. I am thankful to Dept. of Science and Technology for supporting this program which is of immense significance for the youth," he added. VS Krishna Murti from NIELIT was the guest of honor. He said that today's market requires skilled labour and computer skills have been proving helpful in raising our economy and making people self-reliant. "IT knowledge makes us more valuable," he added. Sunita Razdhan District Coordinator Department of Science and Technology Udhampur also spoke on the occasion. "Our endeavor is to empower the youth with the knowledge and skills. It is heartening that this is our fifth consecutive course in this college. I hope this year too we will achieve our target," she said. Organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the College, sponsored by Dept. of Science and Technology and National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) the first batch of 40 students belonging to SC/ST/OBC/RBA/BPL and General Categories has been started in its first phase. |
