Kishtwar, Nov 13: BJP candidate from 52-Inderwal allegedly entered the strong room area at ITI building complex here late last night and threatened some election employees present there. Following this, Mushtaq Ahmed Hap, Chief Election Agent of Congress candidate Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, lodged a written complaint before Returning Officer of Inderwal segment against BJP candidate Tariq Hussain and two others namely Jaffar Hussain and Shanti Saroop of Passarkot Chatroo and demanded registration of an FIR against them for trying to make forceful entry into the strong room where EVMs have been kept which tantamount to violation of Model Code of Conduct. It has been stated in the complaint that the strong room area is banned area under Election Commission of India guidelines When contacted, Returning Officer of Inderwal, Sudarshan Kumar Salaria downplayed the incident and denied that the three persons had managed to enter the banned area. He said that strong room was locked and guarded by 25 security personal round the clock, added that no one can enter there without prior permission from him or District Election Officer. Meanwhile, an official employed inside the strong room confirmed that the BJP candidate had a heated argument with some staff members over the appointment of some magistrate in Inderwal constituency alleging that some people assigned with job of zonal magistrate duty during elections had affiliation with Congress party. Later the allegation of BJP candidate was proved wrong as no such employee was posted for such duty as the name put forth by the angry BJP candidate did not feature in the said list. |
