Politics Art Of Possibilities!

Omar forgets going to Pak, admires Modi
Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Nov 13: As the polling day is coming closer the war of words between the two national parties, Congress and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has intensified, while as National Conference and BJP have stopped targeting each other.
BJP interestingly is keeping National Conference in good books. Since the day elections have been announced the BJP has not issued a single statement against Omar Abdullah nor the ruling National Conference. Some people believe that both the parties have struck a "secret deal" and would open their cards only after the election results are declared.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has started admiring Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has refrained from targeting either Modi or the BJP in his speeches. When Omar was campaigning for his party candidates for the Parliamentary elections in May this year he had said, "If Narendra Modi becomes the Prime Minister of India, he (Omar) would leave Kashmir and go to Pakistan."
After BJP recorded thumping victory in the Lok Sabha polls Omar's tone changed and he tried his best to somehow develop close proximity with the BJP leaders. He ate his words about leaving India and going to Pakistan and rushed to attend the swearing in ceremony of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. The old adage holds true that politics is art of possibilities. Friends can become foes and foes can become friends.
On the other hand leaders of both BJP and Congress are not leaving any stone unturned to attack each other in the flood ravaged Kashmir, and are trying their best to woo the voters. Both the parties are not that strong in the Valley as their vote bank is spread across Jammu region. Leaders of both the parties are aware about this fact despite that they want to score points over each other to keep their masters happy.
The JKPCC chief Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz played a communal card in south Kashmir's Kulgam district on Tuesday by terming the upcoming elections as a battle between Sangh Parivar and people of Kashmir, Soz said, "It is the RSS which is presently ruling the country. So, the polls will be clash between the Kashmiri people and RSS."
By raking up the RSS issue, Soz addressed the hardliners, especially Jamaat workers, in the area. The JKPCC chief very tactically drove home a point that Assembly elections are a fight between Hindus and Muslims. How unfortunate is it that politicians are trying to pit people against each other by playing a communal card.
The JKPCC chief alleged that BJP is "buying votes" and has kept its coffers open to lure the electorate. "Despite spending money I am pretty much sure that BJP would not be even able to open its account in Kashmir," he added.
Soon after Soz trained his guns at the BJP leadership, the party spokesman Khalid Jehangir shot back saying, "Soz amassed huge wealth during all these years by remaining subservient to a particular family. He is unable to digest that Family Raaj in India is over."
Jehangir while talking to Early Times said that Soz has become "irrelevant" in JK politics and now he is trying to project his son (Salman Soz) to carry forward his legacy.
He mocked at Soz for claiming that BJP would not open its account in the Valley. "Prof Soz is living in a fool's paradise and is day dreaming. Coming elections would prove who would open his account and who would not," the BJP spokesman added.
Critics call politics "dirty" and both the parties at least in the Kashmir have proven them right by indulging in mudslinging and launching personal attacks on each other. Even the voters whom these parties want to woo know it very well that these parties are indulging in rhetoric just for the sake of votes and to make their presence felt.
