"Jitender, BJP candidate contradict each other; Agnivesh threatens of dire consequences" | Ahead of Modi's J&K visit, debate on Article 370 ignites clash of ideologies | | Javaid Naikoo Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 13: At a time when BJP is gearing itself to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is scheduled to address series of election rallies here for BJP candidates, there has been a clash of ideologies in the party over the issue of article 370, with Swami Agnivesh threatening of dire consequences. Renowned Hindu scholar Agnivesh, who more often remains in news for his comments on issues related to Jammu and Kashmir, today said that Article 370 that grants special status to the state within the Indian Union cannot be abrogated by any means. He said that 'whether it is Narendra Modi government or any other government, it cannot revoke Article 370' and added that 'if Article 370 is revoked, J&K's accession with India will come to question and the state will secede to be part of India.' He also said that 'this law is permanent and can't be revoked and according to him Instrument of Accession was signed between two national governments so the accord cannot be broken as 'only way to abrogate Article 370 is by dissolving the present J&K Assembly, create a new Assembly as it existed in 1951, which is not possible.' Pertinently, Swami Agnivesh has stepped in the discussion about article 370 at a time when on Wednesday Dr Jitendra Singh and BJP's candidate from Amira Kadal constituency, Hina Bhat clashed ideologically over the debate of article 370 and both gave their different versions whether or not to abrogate it. Dr Singh on the occasion of inaugurating BJP media centre here said that 'BJP stand on article 370 is clear and added that all issues which have been part of the party's manifesto will be on the agenda of BJP. He said that all issues including article 370 will be part of the agenda. He also said that "in each election you have to go through the line of priorities and priorities during November-December elections of Jammu and Kashmir are to liberate people from years of misgovernance, corruption and family rule." On the other hand, Hina Bhat while commenting on Article 370 abrogation issue said that she will pick up gun if article 370 is abrogated and added that 'she is very confident about article 370 and nobody can snatch it from us. The day it is revoked, I will be the first person to take up gun." Hina also took a jibe on Jitendra Singh and said that 'if he is talking about it let him but our manifesto has not yet come and let us talk about article 370 after the party manifesto is released. It is pertinent to mention here that the discussion on article 370 has once again broke out at a time when according to sources Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is likely to address public rallies in central Kashmiri’s Ganderbal, Anantnag of South Kashmir besides in parts of Jammu and Ladakh Provinces of the state from November 20 onwards. |
