Fearing worst defeat a NC candidate mulls over surrendering mandate | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 13: After BJP and Congress now it is turn of ruling National Conference to face revolt of party leaders who were not given mandates by the party. Decision of the prominent National Conference (NC) leader Gani Choudhary to contest election from Poonch-Haveli Assembly segment is a clear indication that revolt has started in "discipline" party which has released lists of candidates much earlier. Gani Choudhary today shows his strength while filing his nomination paper as rebel candidate of National Conference from Poonch-Haveli seat. He is block president of National Conference and his decision to contest elections would spoil chances of sitting NC MLA Aijaz Jan. Credible sources said there was total demoralization among cadre of National Conference. Sources said that a National Conference candidate who has been giving mandate to contest election is seriously thinking to surrender the ticket because he is not interested to contest the elections. Credible sources said that supporters of this leader have suggested that situation is not conducive to contest elections on the mandate of NC so it is better not to join the electoral fray. Close aide of this leader revealed that the leader has yet not made up his mind to surrender the mandate but he is seriously thinking over it. His supporters and family members have asked him to sight health as a reason to withdraw himself from the electoral battle because chance of victory this time is bleak. Earlier, this leader was hobnobbing with other parties but he could not get mandates of any other party so he had decided to contest election on NC. But after start of election process, his supporters found that situation is averse so they are pressurizing him to surrender the mandate. |
