Interns provide treatment at pediatric, emergency wards of SMGS Hospital | Registrar, PG doctors go missing from mid night | | Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 13: Notwithstanding the tall claims of administration of Shri Maharaja Ghulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital for giving best Medicare facilities to the patients, the reality sound different during night hours when interns doctor take care of patients at pediatric emergency ward. Sources told Early Times that the duty roaster of the hospitals maintains that at least one registrar along with PG (junior resident) have to be physically present in the hospital everyday even night but the registrar and PG doctors on night duty left pediatric emergency ward as mid night for sleep. "In the absence of above mentioned doctors, intern doctors as well as nurses treat patients," they informed and adding it witnessed on night hours when only junior doctors are seen taking rounds in the hospital ward. He also stated junior doctors are less experienced what a junior doctor will do if any such case arises. "As the rules are not followed at only child hospital of Jammu division, the attendants have to face difficulty to get well their kith and kin", they added. They further said patients blamed the hospital administration for cruel attitude and said it is all fault of hospital administration as well as senior doctors who don't tighten noose the doctors who don't take their duty as seriously. "My daughter is suffering from erratic fever and diagnose being made by under training (intern doctor's) has so far failed to bring any improvement in her condition," said Shanti Devi of RS Pura whose daughter was admitted in Pediatric emergency ward. She also said attendants were seen running from pillar to post seeking consultation of senior doctors for their ailing kids. "My child is suffering high fever. I visited doctor but there was only intern doctor no senior doctor available," said Baasim another patient at same ward, claiming that intern checked my child but he didn't know how much dose of medicine give to child. Despite repeated calls made by this journo, the Deputy Medical Superintendent SMGSH, Dr Dara Singh did not picked the call. When contacted to Principal of GMC Hospital Ghanshyam Dev he said he will personally make a check on the complaint, if anyone found disregarding his/her duties would not be speared. |
