Kundal dumps Congress to contest RS Pura seat as independent candidate | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 13 : Following in the foot prints of NC MLC and former Chief Secretary Sheikh Ghulam Rasool, Congress MLC and former Chief Secretary BR Kundal today announced his resignation from the congress party and decided to contest the Assembly elections as an Independent candidate. Addressing a press conference here in press club BR Kundal claimed he decided to quit the party after he was denied party mandate by the high command. Apparently, Kundal was enjoying close proximity of former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad but failed to earn the mandate of the party. Giving vent to his ire angry Kundal told reporters the way he has been deprived of the mandate by the Congress party it is very much evident that the party is not keen on supporting the growth agenda in the RS Pura constituency. Kundal said I cannot stay mum and suffer in isolation especially when party has rejected mandate in support of a leader who adopted progressive approach in his daily working. He said he was under intense pressure from his supporters and large number of sapranches and panches in the area to announce his candidature as an independent candidate. |
