Rajouri, Nov 27 : Upset over high polling percentage in 15 Assembly constituencies in phase one election in Jammu and Kashmir Pakistani agencies, including the Army have devised ways and means for pushing groups of militants into the state for escalating the level of violence which could prevent people from casting their votes. Official circles attribute infiltration bids from three spots across the IB and the LOC in Jammu and Poonch/Rajouri during the last 24 hours to the high polling percentage that was recorded in phase one election in Jammu and Kashmir. Now that polling is to take place in Poonch, Haveli, Rajouri, Darhal and other constituencies in R.S.Pura ,Arnia and adjoining areas on this side of the IB militants were being assisted by the Pakistani troops to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir for raising the level of violence. In one such incident in Arnia sector Indian forces foiled the infiltration bid after they lost one soldier.Reports said that a jawan was killed and three others injured on Thursday after a fierce gun battle broke out between security forces and militants who had sneaked into Arnia border sector while an infiltration bid was foiled along the Line of Control in Poonch/Rajouri district. The fresh bloodletting came ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Jammu region tomorrow for Assembly poll campaign. "As per initial reports from the area, a group of militants numbering between two to four infiltrated from Arnia belt of Jammu district and resorted to firing," a police officer said adding the security grid of Army, BSF and Police swung into action and launched a search for the militants on Thursday morning. Army sources said the militants occupied a vacant army bunker in Pindi Khattar belt of Arnia border sector of Jammu district. "The bunker was of Army's 92 infantry brigade. A fierce encounter broke out. A jawan has been killed and three others, including a civilian, are injured," they said. A car has also been seized in the area which might have been used by the militants. Meanwhile, troops noticed suspicious movement near Line of Control in Leharan Company Operating Base in Lam Battalion area of Rajouri district around 6.30 a.m. on Thursday, a senior Army officer said. The security personnel responded immediately and foiled an infiltration bid, he said.
