BJP Vision Document keeps KPs in good humor | Makes no mention of Article 370 | | Javaid Naikoo Early Times Report
Srinagar, Nov 27: After seeing no support for their call to abrogate article 370 in Kashmir, BJP which released its vision document instead of manifesto has made no mention of Article 370. In a bid to woo the migrant voters, the vision document speaks of perks, rehabilitation and reservation of seats in the LA. While promising to initiate the process of honourable re-settlement of migrant Kashmiri Pandits, BJP vision document mentions that Jammu and Kashmir would be developed on modern lines through holistic Development progammes of the party. "Our vision is to make the state of Jammu and Kashmir a peaceful, progressive and developed state of the Union of India through holistic and inclusive development of all the three regions including Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh," said state in-charge Avinash Rai Khanna BJP leadership which is eyeing migrant votes of Kashmiri Pandits in Habba Kadal, Amira Kadal, Khanyar in Srinagar District, volatile Sopore in North Kashmir and Tral in South Kashmir, the party has promised to initiate the process of just and honourable re-settlement of the displaced members of the Kashmiri Pandit community in Kashmir valley with security and dignity. Besides the document also promises three seats in the state assembly for displaced Kashmiri's out of the 46 assembly seats meant for Kashmir valley and five seats for refugees from the Pakistan occupied Kashmir from the 24 seats kept vacant for the PoK. As per figures available with early times in constituencies where BJP is putting special emphases these days to gain migrant vote bank which include Amira Kadal, Habba Kadal, Khanyar, Sopore and Tral, its candidates had embarrassment in these constituencies during 2008 assembly elections in which in Amira Kadal constituency which saw a voter turnout of 14.98% BJP only secured149 votes, in Habba Kadal, which saw a voter turnout of 11.62 %, BJP secured only 671 votes, in Tral where 48 % voter turnout was recorded BJP secured 338 votes and in Sopore if vote ratio remained the same with 19.95 % of 2008, BJP's migrant vote hopes would come down while as in Khanyar BJP has to face Muhammad Khursheed Alam of PDP and Ali Muhammad Sagar of NC. Pertinently there was a rift in consensus among BJP leaders who belong to Kashmir and those belong to Jammu and in other parts of the state over abrogation of article 370. |
