SRINAGAR, Dec 21: Taking a serious note of the wealth amassed by the politicians of the different political parties All Migrants Camps Coordination Committee (AMCCC) has demanded a probe in the accumulation of the wealth by the politicians. At a meeting of AMCCC chaired by its President Desh Rattan Pandita it was decided that an agitation would be carried out if no action is taken against the politicians who have amassed wealth through fraudulent means. It was also decided that the fight would be taken to the Parliament and strong protests would be carried out against the 'opportunist' politicians. Talking to Early Times, Pandita said that it was astonishing to note that some of the candidates in the recent assembly elections have amassed property worth crores of rupees. He said that nobody in the country and more so the state can accumulate wealth in crores through legal means and as such there is something fishy in the whole matter. "In the recent elections some of the contesting candidates while filling their nomination papers stated that they own property worth crores of rupees. We want to know how a common man after becoming MLA/Minister can collect a huge amount of money, gold and also own big bungalows," said AMCCC President. Pandita said that people should come out and fight it out on roads so that politicians/leaders or bureaucrats are punished. He said the corrupt people should be banned from taking part in elections. He added that the property of the politicians should be distributed among the needy and deserved people. "Some agencies like Election Watch and Global Financial Integration also in their survey have reported that crores of black money is being deposited in Swiss Bank. The farmers and other needy people are selling their children for to make their both ends meet. What kind of democracy is in our Country," said AMCCC President. Pandita said that the state government still lacks basic amenities related to health, education, employment and road connectivity. He said that leaders of both National Conference and Congress have collected huge amount of money and adjusted their kiths and kin on high posts in Civil Secretariat and in other offices. "The Medical Colleges of Srinagar and Jammu are without proper staff and equipments. The senior doctors are busy with their private practice without caring for the poor patients who visit these hospitals. The pending files in Civil Secretariat of so many needy and poor persons either have been closed or have been put in almirahs because having no proper approach," said AMCCC President. |
