SVO to indict Tara Chand, PRO in recruitment scam | Accused turns approver, more arrests on cards | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 21: The State Vigilance Organization is all set to indict the outgoing Deputy Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Tara Chand and his Personal Relation Officer (PRO) Kewal Sharma in infamous Class- IV recruitment scam in Education Department as one of the accused has agreed to become an approver in the case. The SVO which has already registered an FIR against the Chief Education Officer Jammu Tarsem Lal and three others in the scam, is learnt to have established the role of Tara Chand and Kewal Sharma in influencing the selection of candidates for Class-IV posts. Since the duo was not directly involved in the selection process and hence could not be implicated in the FIR in initial phase, sources said, their role surfaced during investigation of the case. Main accused in the case and others, against whom FIR has been registered, have confessed that selection of the candidates was manipulated on the alleged directions of Deputy CM and his PRO, sources told Early Times. They said that SVO has also seized some Dummy Official (DO) letters, written by the PRO on letter pad of Dy CM, recommending consideration of those, who had not even applied for the post. Besides the documentary evidences, sources said that one of the accused members in the selection committee has agreed to become approver in the case against Tara Chand and Kewal Sharma. Even as CEO Tarsem Lal also offered to become an approver in the case, sources said that the Vigilance Organization has turned down his request in this regard as the former is the main accused in the scam. Even as the stage is set for implication of Tara Chand and Kewal in the recruitment scam, sources hint that a few days may be taken in including the names of the duo in FIR registered by the SVO. 'We are waiting for completion of the final phase of ongoing Assembly elections for our next action. If need arises some of the accused may also be arrested for interrogation," said a senior SVO officer. |
