CHANDIGARH, Dec 21: Heal Kashmir, a self help group working for the welfare of flood affected families, held a fundraising camp here under “Jazba-e-Insaniyat, a series of the long term #ProjectPheran #ProjectWarmth that aims to provide bedding and warm clothing to at least 10,000 affected people. The camp organized at the Sector 17 was attended by a large number of students, civil society members, and the locals. The participants held a candle light vigil to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir. The people also contributed in cash and kind for the food hit victims. Heal Kashmir is run by the students pursuing higher education in various states of India. It came into existence shortly after the floods ravaged Valley, leaving hundreds dead and tens of thousands of people homeless. The group has established collection centres at New Delhi and other states. Besides, collection centres have also been set up South Korea and Egypt. |
