Now, none will trust Nirmal and BJP! | Jammu will get AIIMS, lake | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 28: Cornered and roundly condemned BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh, who is now being dubbed by one and all as "Jaichand of Jammu", is desperate to win back the trust of the cheated people of Jammu province. The yesterday's bandh has perhaps not only rattled him and shown him his place, but also the BJP its rightful place. Nirmal Singh and the party have lost their faces and they have either read the writing on the wall or have again decided to mislead the agitating people of Jammu province by telling them that they appreciate their concerns and demands and that they will see to it that their concerns were addressed and demands conceded. Taking a complete U-turn, Nirmal Singh has said, "no power can prevent establishment of the AIIMS and completion of artificial lake in Jammu". "Power is not important for the BJP. We can sacrifice power in no time for defending the Jammu cause. Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed must have realized by now that he was misled by someone about the feasibility or otherwise of the artificial lake over Tawi. AIIMS will be established and artificial lake will be completed," he has said. Interestingly, according to Congress leader and former minister Sham Lal Sharma it was none other "Nirmal Singh and PHE Minister Sukhnandan Choudhary who had persuaded the Chief Minister to shelve the ongoing artificial lake project" and he had made this revelation during the Coordination Committee meet in the High Court premises on May 23, the day the Coordination Committee leadership urged the people of Jammu province to observe bandh on Wednesday. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh visited Jammu on Wednesday only to be greeted by a massive bandh. It bears recalling that it was the same Nirmal Singh who on April 24, when the people of Jammu observed first bandh on the AIIMS issue, taunted and insulted the people of Jammu province by making a detestable statement. He had said "there was no bandh in Jammu on April 24" and that no power on earth could "snatch AIIMS from Kashmir and AIIMS will not be established in Jammu". Nirmal Singh might have taken a U-turn to connect himself with the masses in Jammu, but it is extremely doubtful if anyone in Jammu province would trust him and the BJP have conducted themselves in a manner that has completely alienated the people of Jammu province. The fact of the matter is that Nirmal Singh and the BJP have fallen from grace and no amount of efforts on their part could win back the trust of the estranged Jammu. |
