Jammu, May 28: In a contempt petition filed by Mukhtar Ahmad Mir alleging violation of various orders passed in OWP no. 96/2015 by virtue of which District Magistrate Srinagar has been directed to implement order passed by him on 28.2.2015 imposing complete ban on sale, purchase and plantation of Russian Poplar Tree Species in the entire District Srinagar, in which Adv Syed Manzoor who submits that District Magistrate Srinagar has failed to implement the order resultantly the people are suffering.
Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey observed that the experts have opined that Russian Poplar Species are health hazardous, therefore, its reproduction has to be stopped by removing the plantation already in place and directed District Magistrate, Srinagar, to file compliance and ensure that the order is implemented in letter and spirit by or before the June 5, 2015. In default of doing so, he shall remain present in person to explain the reasons of failure. (JNF)
