Billawar, Oct 6: Billawar Zila Andolan (BZA) today held day long dharna in front of Tehsil office in which they demanded from government to given Billawar as district status. BR Upadhiaya members of Andolan expressed anguish over neglect by current government. He said that six tehsils of district Kathua: Billawar, Ramkot, Macchedi, Bani, Basohli and Mahanpur which are hilly are the worst sufferers due to the present district headquarter at Kathua which is 100- 200 kilometers away. Jalmeria further added that the hilly belt has been badly neglected in almost all fields of development. Meanwhile, the road connected in Billawar are in bad shape, including Dyalachak to Challan, Billawar to Sukral Macchedi; Billawar to Katli. At present only three doctors manning the Sub-District Hospital Billawar besides teaching staff in Degree College Billawar and the Higher Secondary schools and High Schools of the area. They further said that demand for Billawar district is very genuine and pending since long. He also raised the issue of opening a tunnel starting from Bhini Bridge towards Kathua which would link this hilly belt with National Highway and reduce distances. Durga Dass, Sudesh Kumar Sapolia, Jatinder Singh Bhadwal Adv Sarpanch, Master Raghunath Singh, Sagar Chand, Master Bhagwan Singh, Jaimal Singh, Vinod Raeothia, Karun Sharma, Naresh Singh, Vikramjit Singh Mankotia, Arvind Singh Jalmeria and Chuni Lal Sharma were also spoke on the occasion. |
