Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 6: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) today organized a function to commemorate "International Day ofNonviolence" at RS Pura Campus. According to press release, the students, staff and faculty members participating in the function were administered nonviolence pledge by Dr. V.S. Wazir Associate Professor at SKUAST Jammu. Dr. M. Ashaq Malik, former Director of Reseach Eritean Institute of Technology, Asmara, State of Entrea delivered the keynote lecture on "Gandhian way of life: Key to sustainable peace and development." On this occasion the students of the university namely Aman Deep Singh and Fatima Bano spoke on the topic of nonviolence, highlighting the philosophy and the contributions of the Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi in inculcating the spirit of nonviolence during the Independence Struggle and relevance of Gandhi-giri in present times. Dr. T.A.S. Ganai, Director Education spoke about the relevance of Bapu in modern times and adoption of nonviolence as a way of life. Among others Dr. M.M.S.Zama, Dean FV.Sc. & A.H and Dr. R.K. Gupta, Dean Faculty of Basic Sciences were present on the occasion. The function was coordinated by Dr. S.B. Bakshi, Deputy Director Students' Welfare, SKUAST of Jammu. |
